Biography:

Danielle is a Psychology major and Sociology minor here at UNCP, graduating in December 2017. She plans on attending graduate school for Clinical Mental Health Counseling after graduation. Originally, Danielle was a Biology major, but ended up choosing a Psychology major after her first semester at UNCP, resulting in a complete career change. Studying the human thought process, along with the professors in the Psychology department helped her decide to make this change. Danielle first became a member of the Psychology Club because of a friend that did not want to join alone, but ended up running for the Treasurer position after thoroughly enjoying the atmosphere of the club and its members and wanting to build her résumé for graduate school. She remained the Treasurer from Fall 2015 to Spring 2017, and became President in Fall 2017. Being a part of this club and the Psychology department of UNCP has been one of her favorite UNCP experiences thus far, along with research assisting with Dr. Allen!

Leadership in the Club:

Danielle is incredibly motivated by her need for achievement. She takes great pride in being able to achieve everything she sets her mind to, as well as being able to complete tasks delegated to her by others. Danielle has had a high need for achievement since elementary school, and because of this, enjoys always having a task to complete. She sees herself as a leader with a high regard for initiating structure and a high regard for consideration. This means that she agrees with the Ohio State University Leadership model, and thinks that getting the job done and having a good working relationship with the individuals under her are equally as important. Danielle’s job as the Treasurer is mainly a decisional role. She allocates the resources of the club for events and fundraising, and handles discrepancies with meeting times.
