Meet Sahara Brodsky, our President!

Biography:
Sahara is a Psychology major and a Religion minor here at UNCP, graduating in this May. She plans to go to graduate school for Clinical Psychology with a focus in Forensic Psychology, and then wants to also attend Law School. Coming from a family who has psychology related careers; Sahara chose her path based on a combination of continuing the family business while also choosing a career that is interesting and profitable. One of her favorite UNCP experiences has been working as a research assistant in the Psychology Department. Sahara wanted to be a part of the Psychology Club to socialize with other students who shared the same interests as her, but also to build her résumé. She also believed that running for President would be a nice stepping-stone to help get her into a reputable graduate school.

Leadership in the Club:
Sahara is very high in the need for achievement, which means that achieving her goals is her greatest motivator. Most of the things that she has done in her school career have been to achieve some goal that she has set for herself, whether it is the easiest path for her to take or not. Sahara treats her position as President of the Psychology Club as an interpersonal role. This means that she is the figurehead and overall leader and spokesperson for the club. She also believes that a leader has the ability to make the final decision, but that input from others should be referred to, leading her to agree with the democratic style from University of Iowa Leadership model. This style encourages group participation in decision-making and a leader with this style does not closely supervise the individuals under them.
