Meet Dr. William Collier, our Academic Advisor!

STSheadswilljar.jpg

Dr. Collier is an Associate Professor in the Psychology Department here at UNCP. He began down the psychological path simply due to a general interest in the subject. Originally, Dr. Collier thought he would eventually become a clinical health counselor, but meandered his way to experimenting and later decided to teach and conduct his research. Dr. Collier attended Oklahoma Christian University for his undergraduate degree, and thoroughly enjoyed his research methods and statistics professor, and later followed his footsteps to the University of Central Oklahoma for his Masters degree. At UNCP, Dr. Collier’s favorite experience was his Cognitive Processes class in Spring 2012. He believes that a mixture of the right students and a balance between teaching the material and having fun are the key to a great semester. He started as a co-advisor of the Psychology Club with Dr. Shilpa Regan, but became the sole academic advisor in 2012. As our academic advisor, Dr. Collier plays an interpersonal role, not making decisions for the organization but being an encourager and motivator for the officers.
